May Momentum
It’s May, and everyone has a spring in their step, quite literally. There are dozens of ‘National Days’ in May, from ‘May the 4th Be With You’ Star Wars Day, to May 5th's National Teacher Appreciation Day and even Dance Like a Chicken Day on the 14th. How can anyone keep up?
In the world of construction and PMs, did you know that the industry is heavily focused on major trade events, particularly in the UK, alongside ongoing discussions about critical technological shifts in the sector?
National days CAN be serious
Many construction events are held in May because it serves as the premier "ramp-up" phase for the industry, strategically aligning with the start of the peak construction season. It is a time for firms to finalise partnerships, explore new technologies and showcase innovations before the heaviest onsite work begins in the summer.
A UK construction events calendar can look like a simple list of awareness weeks, trade shows and annual campaigns. However, what appears to be a basic annual diary is better understood as a strategic planning map for how construction pressure moves through the year. Some dates are fixed, while others drift slightly. But the pattern is stable enough that contractors, consultants, suppliers and client teams can use it to anticipate where conversations around health, safety, skills, logistics, retrofit, wellbeing and building safety are most likely to intensify. So, here are some of the key construction events happening this May that you might want to lock into your calendar for next year's planning.
